The Notre Dame girls basketball team battled to a hard-fought 40-37 victory over Palmerton in a back-and-forth contest on Thursday night.
The Crusaders found themselves trailing 9-8 after the first quarter but managed to rally, taking a narrow 22-21 lead into halftime. The tightly contested game continued into the third quarter, with Notre Dame clinging to a 31-29 advantage before sealing the win in the final moments.
Senior standout Emily Lessig led the way for the Crusaders, scoring a game-high 16 points and adding 4 rebounds. Junior Ella Schweitzer contributed 9 points, while senior Addison Ryan and junior Ava Shonk chipped in 6 points apiece to round out the scoring efforts.
With the win, Notre Dame improves their record and builds momentum heading into their next matchup. The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, hosting Wilson at home.
