The Notre Dame girls basketball team captured the Colonial League championship last night with a thrilling 58-53 overtime victory over Northwestern Lehigh.
The Crusaders showcased their sharpshooting, knocking down eight three-pointers, led by Brenna Hammerstone’s four from beyond the arc. Notre Dame fended off a fierce fourth-quarter comeback by Northwestern Lehigh to force overtime, where Ava Shonk took over, scoring seven points, including three clutch free throws.
Shonk finished as the team’s top scorer with 15 points, followed by Emily Lessig with 14 and Hammerstone with 13.
With the league title secured, Notre Dame now turns its attention to the District 11 playoffs. The Crusaders will be back in action next Friday, with their opponent and game location to be announced.
