Notre Dame secured a hard-fought 38-35 victory over Catasauqua in the District XI quarterfinals, fending off a late-game surge to punch their ticket to the state tournament.
The Crusaders built a nine-point halftime lead behind their tenacious defense, but Catasauqua responded with defensive pressure of their own, forcing turnovers and converting fast-break opportunities. Despite the momentum shift, Notre Dame regained control down the stretch, locking in defensively and executing at the free-throw line.
Down the stretch, the Crusaders made 7 of 10 free throws, with Ella Schweitzer, Brenna Hammerstone, and Emily Lessig each knocking down two clutch shots. Lessig led the way offensively with 10 points.
With the win, Notre Dame advances to the District XI semifinals and will face Executive Charter on Tuesday night at a site to be determined.
