Girls Basketball Rallies Past Schuylkill Haven to Claim District XI Championship

Facing a six-point halftime deficit, Notre Dame Green Pond stormed back with a dominant second-half defensive performance to secure a 32-28 victory over Schuylkill Haven in the District XI Championship on Friday night at Easton Area Middle School.
The Crusaders’ defense set the tone in the third quarter, forcing nine turnovers and holding the Hurricanes to just five points. With momentum on their side, Notre Dame carried that energy into the fourth quarter, outscoring Schuylkill Haven 17-6 to complete the comeback.
Junior Ava Shonk led the charge with a game-high 12 points, while senior Emily Lessig added 10 in the hard-fought victory.
With the district title in hand, the Crusaders now turn their focus to the PIAA State Tournament. They will face the District 12 No. 6 seed next Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Allentown Central Catholic’s Rockne Hall.
