The Notre Dame girls basketball team made a strong statement in the first round of the PIAA 3A state tournament, defeating Mariana Bracetti 77-11 on Friday night at Allentown Central Catholic’s Rockne Hall.
The Crusaders wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for 34 first-quarter points behind Emily Lessig’s 12-point surge and three first-quarter three-pointers from Brenna Hammerstone. Lessig went on to finish with a career-high 20 points, while Ella Schweitzer also notched a career-best 13 points. Every Crusader found the scoring column in the dominant win.
With the victory, Notre Dame advances to the second round of the PIAA state championship, where they will face Dunmore (District 2) next Tuesday at a site to be determined.
