The Notre Dame baseball team came up short in a tough 12-6 loss to Bangor on Saturday. Despite tallying 12 hits, the Crusaders couldn’t keep pace with Bangor’s offense.
Bangor jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first and adding four more in the second. Notre Dame got on the board in the third when Clemente Cintron ripped a key hit to drive in three runs. A four-run fourth inning, fueled by clutch hits from Michael Wachter and Colin Pevorus, brought the Crusaders back into the game, but Bangor’s bats stayed hot, tacking on late insurance runs.
Cintron led the offense with three RBIs, while Connor Albert, Wachter, and Pevorus each had multiple hits. On the mound, Austin Casal took the loss, allowing six runs (two earned) over two innings. Liam Gilligan, Brayden Darios, and Christian Rivituso worked in relief, but Bangor’s Merlo went the distance, limiting Notre Dame to just two earned runs over seven innings.
The Crusaders look to bounce back as they take on Southern Lehigh at home today.
