Notre Dame baseball fell just short in a hard-fought battle against Southern Lehigh, losing 8-7 on Monday. The Crusaders started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding another in the second to take an early lead. However, a five-run fifth inning from Southern Lehigh proved to be the turning point, and despite a late push, Notre Dame was unable to reclaim the lead.
Jason Frederick led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, driving in four runs. Christian Rivituso contributed with two hits and two runs scored, while Michael Wachter added two hits and crossed the plate twice. Connor Albert, Austin Casal, and Paul Smith also played key roles in getting runners on base and pushing runs across.
On the mound, Clemente Cintron pitched four innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out two. Michael Martino came in for relief, throwing two innings and giving up two earned runs.
Despite a strong effort, the Crusaders came up just short. They will look to bounce back in their next game on Wednesday at Catasauqua.
