Notre Dame baseball picked up a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Salisbury on Wednesday, using a big third and fifth inning to take control and hold on for the win.
After trailing 3-1 early, the Crusaders responded with three runs in the third and two more in the fifth to take the lead for good. Paul Smith had a strong game, going 2-for-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, while Austin Casal added 2 hits and an RBI, and Michael Wachter chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI of his own.
Clemente Cintron started on the mound, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) over 4 innings with 3 strikeouts. Michael Martino earned the win, pitching 2.1 hitless innings in relief, and Christian Rivituso closed the door in the seventh to seal the win.
Notre Dame will be back in action tonight against Executive at DeSales University.
