The Notre Dame baseball team edged out North Schuylkill in a thrilling 9–8 home victory, fending off a furious seventh-inning comeback to secure the win.
Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead, putting up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Crusaders added two more in the third and three in the sixth, finishing the game with 12 hits and taking advantage of six walks issued by North Schuylkill pitchers. Offensively, Austin Casal led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, including a double and an RBI. Connor Albert added two hits and a run scored, while Michael Wachter drove in two runs and reached base four times. Colin Pevorus and Matt Robertshaw each contributed key extra-base hits, with Pevorus also scoring twice.
On the mound, Casal earned the win, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing three runs—two earned—on three hits. Paul Smith and Christian Rivituso combined for the final 3.2 innings of relief. Despite allowing five late runs, they managed to hold the Spartans at bay and seal the victory.
Notre Dame's defense committed just one error compared to North Schuylkill's four, a difference that ultimately proved critical. The Crusaders stranded 11 runners but made the most of their opportunities early, building enough of a cushion to survive the late-inning drama.
