Notre Dame dominated on both sides of the ball Friday night, rolling past Saucon Valley 55-13 in a Colonial League matchup on the road.

The Crusaders (4-0) struck early and often, building a 21-7 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Quarterback Matt Bodnar set the tone completing 17 of 24 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while also spreading the ball to eight different receivers. Tommy Murphy added a perfect 4-for-4 passing performance for 65 yards and a score.

Aaron Gordon was the star of the night, finding the end zone in nearly every way possible. The junior tailback rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns, and on defense, he returned an interception 39 yards for another score in the fourth quarter. Gordon also led the Crusaders with six tackles.

Notre Dame’s offensive attack was balanced, piling up 256 passing yards and 153 rushing yards. Alex Clark hauled in five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown, while Murphy, Jonathan Striba, and Clemente Cintron also caught scoring passes. Striba added a rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

The defense was equally impressive, holding Saucon Valley to just 21 rushing yards on the night. Senior linebacker Sammy Morici recorded a sack and blocked a kick, while Garrett Grants tallied two sacks and three tackles. Notre Dame forced the game’s lone turnover, Gordon’s pick-six that put the game well out of reach.

The Crusaders finished with 409 total yards compared to Saucon Valley’s 184 and converted seven touchdowns on 61 offensive plays. Cintron was perfect on seven extra points to cap off a stellar all-around performance.

Notre Dame (4-0) will look to carry the momentum into next week when they face Catasauqua on Friday. Though officially a home game, the Crusaders will play on the Rough Riders’ field due to upcoming annex construction.
