Notre Dame's offense and defense both delivered statement performances Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders rolled to a 58-0 victory over Catasauqua.
Quarterback Matt Bodnar was nearly unstoppable, completing 22 of 32 passes for 357 yards and six touchdowns, spreading the ball to a host of playmakers. CJ Diaz led the receiving with two touchdown grabs, while Drew Boyd, Eddie Youngkin, Clemente Cintron, and Alex Clark each hauled in scores of their own. Boyd finished with 101 yards receiving, including a 46-yard touchdown strike.
Notre Dame put the game out of reach early, building a 44-0 halftime lead behind Bodnar’s precision passing and a balanced offensive attack that added 97 rushing yards. Faustie Capobianco capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run.
The Crusader defense was equally dominant, forcing three interceptions and holding Catasauqua to just seven first downs. Clark highlighted the defensive effort with a 63-yard pick-six, while Boyd and Jackson Wallace each added interceptions. Brett Bruckman applied relentless pressure, recording two sacks and two tackles for loss.
Cintron added a 26-yard field goal and went 5-for-6 on PATs, while Mark Perone chipped in two extra points and consistently pinned Catasauqua deep with his kickoffs.
With the victory, Notre Dame improves its record to 5-0 and will look to carry momentum into next week’s matchup. The Crusaders travel to Northern Lehigh on Friday night for another key Colonial League match.
