Notre Dame swim team was well represented this weekend at the District XI AA Swimming Championships held at Parkland High School, as Mia Uliana and freshman Jaxon Ellis delivered impressive performances over two days of competition.

Day One was headlined by a breakout swim from Uliana in the 200 IM. Seeded 12th and competing in the first (slower) heat, Uliana stunned the field by taking control of the race from the opening leg and never looking back. She dropped nearly nine seconds and ultimately finished 4th overall, earning a spot on the podium. Despite swimming out of the slower heat, Uliana outpaced half of the top-seeded heat, turning what many considered an outside chance into one of the biggest surprises of the meet.

Ellis also impressed on Day One, dropping over two seconds in the 100 butterfly and finishing 10th out of 19 competitors. The performance marked a significant accomplishment for the freshman in his first district championship appearance.

On Day Two, Uliana continued her strong showing in the 100 backstroke. Seeded 9th, she dropped nearly four seconds and finished 8th overall, adding another top-eight medal to her weekend.

Ellis closed out his championship meet in the 100 freestyle, dropping nearly two seconds and finishing 17th after entering as the 19th seed — another strong step forward for the young swimmer.

With multiple time drops and a podium finish, the weekend showcased both Uliana’s breakthrough performance and the bright future ahead for Ellis.
